In support of the 2021 International Women’s Day theme “Choose to challenge” DT Dobie trained female truck drivers to advance their driving skills and familiarize with recent updates in the vehicle technology. A boost in confidence while operating their trucks.
Halima Said Ahmed, DT Dobie Customer Relationship Manager explains,
“The training combines driving and theory sessions which focus on the various vehicle features, fuel efficient driving, issues of professionalism, taking pride in being a good driver and safety for the driver and respecting of other road users.”
“The overall performance of the Actros truck depends on correct handling. Since technology changes rapidly, refresher courses are necessary for different models.”
“Trucks cost the owners a great deal of money and the driver needs to understand the vehicle to be able to minimize fuel consumption and wear and tear. The three day driver training course entails a two day theory session which focuses on vehicle features, fuel efficient driving, issues of professionalism, respecting and taking pride in being a good driver and safety for the driver and other road users.”
Halima Said Ahmed concluded,
“On the third day of the course, we take a truck on the road where we practice all the aspects learnt in the theory class. The drivers take the wheel one by one and I analyse their driving skills and correct habits that are not in keeping with modern vehicles. I also receive feedback from the drivers about the challenges they face in their jobs.”
