Afghanistan Evacuations: Kenyans who are stuck in Afghanistan are literally on their own. This is after the government said that Kenyans who are in Afghanistan will be evacuated by the employers who took them there.
The government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that it is not aware of the number of Kenyans in the country because it has no diplomatic presence there. “Kenya has neither diplomatic presence nor accreditation to Afghanistan,” Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Macharia Kamau.
Mr. Kamau said that some Kenyans had gone to Afghanistan as private contractors or legal experts for agencies like the International Development Law Organisation (IDLO).

“We did a letter to IDLO country office and their headquarters in Rome. We are following up to find out if there are known Kenyans stranded there through the High Commission in Pakistan,” he said. He added that the government was not expecting any Kenyans to be in the troubled country running their own private businesses.
