Each year, the United States government grants 50,000 green cards to people from countries with historically low rates of immigration to the US.
The green card, also called a permanent resident card, is an identification document affirming a foreigner’s residency status in the US.
A cardholder is accorded all protection and rights under the US law, including the right to live and work in the US.
The 2026 Diversity Visa program will be open to receive applications from October 2 to November 5 2024.
The program invites foreigners from various countries to apply to live and work in the US. All DV lottery registrations are completed online.

Kenya has one of the highest number of winners in the world. In the last program, about 3,760 Kenyans landed the opportunity to migrate to the US. This was out of thejj 22,185,619 individuals who submitted their entries.
According to data from the Office of Homeland Security, Kenya ranked sixth in Africa and 37th globally with the highest number of US Green card recipients in 2022.
