Airtel scoops Best Digital Marketing Award

Nairobi, 23rd November, 2016…Airtel Kenya, a leading telecommunication service provider was recently awarded the Best Digital Marketing campaign award during the Marketing Society of Kenya, (MSK) Gala Awards 2016.

The Company was recognized for its creativity in its digital campaign during the 2016 Madaraka Day celebrations in Kenya where it run a catchy consumer promotion depicting communication among the founding fathers of the nation using the modern form of communication, WhatsApp. The campaign captured the letter and spirit of the nation in celebrating its liberation and development heroes in an emotional, inclusive and inspiring manner.

The MSK Awards are aimed at awarding excellence in the marketing and communications industries. The MSK Gala 2016 comprised of 16 categories namely; Product Launch, Product Re-Launch, Advertising Campaign, Digital Marketing, Experiential marketing, Sales Promotions, Brand PR, Sports Marketing, Integrated Marketing Communications, Brand Loyalty, Sustainability Marketing, Best Distribution Strategy and Implementation 2016, Brand Lead of the year Sales Lead of the Year, Marketing Lead of the Year, Best Marketing Medium of the year and the 2016 Overall Winner.

Marketing and other industry awards have over the years been used as means to not only celebrate best performing companies but to also showcase industry leaders based on their customer engagement to unlock growth opportunities for their brands. It is also noted that such recognition offers free publicity as well as an opportunity to expand awareness of one’s business in a way that paid advertising can’t.

MSK is the national umbrella body for all marketers in Kenya with a mandate to empower and regulate the marketing industry by creating policy that governs the Marketing Industry (self-regulated), education and training of professionals, corporates and entrepreneurs, marketing and business mentorship and arbitration through the Advertising Standards Board. The Society’s main objectives are to develop knowledge and practice of marketing, to provide services to members and offer a platform for self-regulation for practicing marketers.
