Tears as family forgives the man who killed their son

Emotions ran high when one family met and forgave the man who killed their son. The man, Albert Nyati, went in search of forgiveness for the death of a 30-year-old that he committed a few years ago.

Reports in the media say that Albert Nyati killed Haron Lenjo in 2017 and was sentenced to 30 years in prison but in 2019. Lenjo was his boda-boda colleague. Nyati killed him in in 2017 after a disagreement at Mwanda in Wundanyi, Taita-Taveta County.

“Lenjo, died on February 17, 2017, after his colleague, Albert Nyati, shoved him during an argument at Kisangarinyi centre boda-boda stage. The 30-year-old suffered fatal injuries when he fell to the ground, hitting his head on a concrete floor. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Wesu hospital,” media outlet Tuko quoted a report that appeared in the Daily Nation.

After getting jailed, Nyati appealed his sentenced and his jail term was reduced to only five years. And with good behaviour, he was freed three and a half years after he was incarcerated.

After his release, Nyati approached the family of Lenjo to plead for forgiveness. “I forgave you a long time ago. I have no problem with you, my son,” the late Lenjo’s father Jonathan Mwaningo said. The words of forgiveness were affirmed by Lenjo’s brother, WIlfred Mrombo. He was quoted as saying, “you are our brother and friend. We forgive you and welcome you back with all blessings.”
