Kimunya: I managed my late wife's money throughout our 35yrs of marriage

During their 35 years of marriage, former finance Cabinet Minister Amos Kimunya was responsible for managing his late wife’s money.

Kimunya made this revelation during a funeral service for his late wife Lucy Muthoni which was held on Friday February 2, 2024.

“In our entire married life, Lucy never operated a personal bank account,” shared the former minister and former Member of Parliament for Kipipiri Constituency.

“She preferred a joint account where all her income was deposited, and she trusted me with all the financial decisions. All she asked for was shopping money and an M-Pesa top-up.”

Kimunya shared that they had met back in 1983 in college. Both of them were pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce degree. They wedded five years later on October 29, 1988.

“She was never moved by material things; those who knew her recognize her simplicity. Lucy, however, loved handbags, and when we travelled, we’d agree that it was a shopping holiday, but she would always get more handbag,” said Kimunya.
