Learning institutions in these areas were heavily hit by the rains. The announcement follows a day after President William Ruto announced the reopening of schools on Monday May 15th.

The CS said the Ministry of Education would shorten the August break so students have more time to catch up on their studies after missing time in May. Schools have been postponed for a period of only one week, between May 6th and May 13th.
