Ballot papers for Kirinyaga Governor have been found in Mumias East Sub-County. This was confirmed by the area returning officer Joseph Ayatta.
“It is true that the ballot papers were found,” Ayatta told a local media house.
This was attributed to confusion in the distribution of the ballot papers ahead of the General Election that is set to take place on Tuesday August 9, 2022.
This confusion was also witnessed in other parts of the country. At the coast region, ballot papers for gubernatorial candidates meant for Mvita Constituency polling centres were reported missing.
The constituency had received ballot papers for Kilifi gubernatorial candidates instead of their own.
“We have received ballot papers for Kilifi. However, that’s a challenge that’s within our reach and we will solve it soon,” said Masha Sudi, Mvita Constituency’s Returning Officer.
There was also confusion in Tharaka Nithi after ballot papers for Fafi ward, Garissa County, were found in Chuka.
Tharaka Nithi IEBC returning officer Mohammed Raka said there was confusion earlier where ballot papers for Fafi ward, Garissa County were found in Chuka.
“There has been a mix up where ballot papers for Fafi ward have been found in Chuka. We have informed our Nairobi officer and they are addressing the matter ,” he said.
