Ben Mulwa: Henry Rotich is Kenya’s worst finance minister

BY BEN MULWA: As I have maintained since 2015, Henry Rotich has completely mortgaged this country with wanton abandon, having proven to be the worst Finance Minister Kenya ever had since independence.

However, legitimate concerns over the popcorn economic policies by the Treasury have continued to be viewed as coming from enemies of progress and development.

Ben Mulwa

Today, the average Kenyan is truly struggling to make ends meet. And here’s my word to you, YOU HAVEN’T SEEN NOTHING YET.

There is no indication of any financial miracle that will happen to the economy in the next six months to ameliorate the already bad economic situation.

Small businesses are folding up like nylon paper near a furnace. Kiosks, butcheries, salons, barber shops, apparel shops, shoe-shine stands, taxi services, cafeterias, you name it.

Properties, motor vehicles, machinery and households are being auctioned every passing hour. Bad loans portfolios with banks and microfinance institutions have hit the roof.

You think this year has been rough? Let’s revisit this matter again by the end of March 2019. Because the results of a reckless national treasury and a moribund parliament are finally here with us.

These opinions are the author’s (Ben Mulwa). they do not necessarily represent the views of Bizna Kenya.
