The Times Higher Education has revealed the best universities to study in the world, placing Kenyatta University as the best higher learning institution in Kenya.
The 2025 World Universities Rankings released on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, relied on performance indicators like teaching environment, research quality, and international outlook of higher learning institutions across the world.
In Kenya, Kenyatta University performed best, outshining the University of Nairobi (UoN), which has held the position for many years.
Kenyatta University performed better in teaching, earning a score of 14.2 percent, compared to UoN’s 12.5 percent.
On research quality, UoN topped with 37.3 percent followed by Kenyatta University at 27.2 percent.

No Kenyan university made it to the top 10 in Africa, highlighting the challenges that Kenyan universities continue to face, including funding shortages, staffing issues, and unrest among lecturers.
