BLAZE THRILLS ELDORET WITH ITS THIRD REGIONAL SUMMIT AS OVER 10,000 YOUNG PEOPLE ATTEND

Safaricom’s third regional summit of Blaze attracted thousands of Blazers from Eldoret region in a colorful event which was held at Eldoret Sports Club on 7th October 2017.

During the Summit, seven youthful Kenyans who had viable and potential business ideas won Ksh 100,000 in cash and 10, 000 worth of Airtime each courtesy of Blaze to help them kick start their businesses. Auditions for the BYOB TV Show that is set to air later next year also went down well.

Additionally, over 350 youth underwent intense training in the 3-day creation camps and benefited from the mentorship and motivational talks from a team of Blaze mentors that was pegged on the theme Greatness Require Internal Toughness (G.R.I.T).

The Eldoret summit was based on three major pillars among them; to mentor and train youth by giving them the tools required to be successful at BYOB creation camps. Secondly, to inspire the youth to follow their passion by introducing them to relatable mentors who talked about their personal journeys and thirdly, BLAZE CSR Friday; a session aimed at teaching the youth to give back to the society.

Mosoriot Teachers College which is one of the three institutions in the country that run on an integrated program with visually impaired students was the institution from the region that benefited from the Blaze CSR Friday. Safaricom Foundation supported by Blaze team donated learning equipment worth Ksh250, 000 to the institution to support learning of visually impaired.

The winners from Eldoret Summit included Erick Rotich (Fashion) – 100,000/=, Joseph Kariuki (Music) – 100,000/=, Rutto Collins (Retail) – 100,000/=, Phyllis Wanja (Creative Arts) – 100,000/=, Samuel Baraka (Technology) – 100,000/=, Joy Mbithe (Film) as well as Kennedy Nzuki (Agriculture) – 100,000/=.

Some of the mentors who were present at the Eldoret summit include; Nyashinski – Musician and Music composer, Jibril Blessing-Producer and videographer, Njugush- Comedian and actor, Abel Mutua- content developer, Wycliffe Waweru- entrepreneur and bicycle manufacturer, Caleb Karuga and Sylvia Tunoi – Agri business as well as Nasreen Dhanji and Confrey Alianji – for Technology.

Entertainment in the Eldoret summit was top notch with Khaligraph Jones and King Kaka thrilling the crowd with electrifying performances. Radio presenter Mwalimu Racheal and Musician Timmy T Dat mceed the high pitched event.

BLAZE is a sub-brand of Safaricom and was created to give the youth aged 26 years and below products, services and benefits tailored specifically to meet their everyday needs.
