A Kenyan girl has achieved the rare fete of acquiring US Citizenship. The girl who identified herself on social media as Blessed Doree said that the 2024 year ended on a high for her after she gained her US Citizenship and also managed to graduated from nursing school.
“Who would have thought that in the same year of finishing nursing school, I would become a US citizen? What a season! It has been years of waiting for this moment. I serve a God who is my way maker, promise keeper and strong tower! Happy New Year!” she said.
By graduating from a nursing school, Doree is guaranteed of a highly paying career given that nursing is a career that is great demand in the United States.
At the same time, Doree has become one in an increasingly falling number of Kenyan migrants who are able to transition to US citizenship.
More Ethiopians than Kenyans are granted US permanent residency status every year, latest data has shown. At the same time, more Ethiopians than Kenyans gain naturalized US citizenship.
Data from the Migration Policy Institute shows that between 2004 and 2022, Ethiopia has had a higher annual number of new legal permanent residents in the United States than Kenya.
In most fiscal years, the number of Ethiopia nationals who are granted permanent residency status by the US government has been double or more in comparison to Kenya.
