A legal fight over the wealth left behind by the late Safaricom chief executive officer Bob Collymore has ended. The fight was between Collymore’s two children and his widow Wambui Collymore.
So how much wealth did Collymore leave behind that has been the subject of this fight?
For a start, the late Safaricom’s boss was one of the best paid executives in the country during his time. He was earning a salary in excess of Sh. 9 million per month. The late top CEO had first revealed his salary in 2015, which stood at Sh. 9 million per month.
When he first spoke about his pay, Collymore had stated that he had accumulated Sh. 109.5 million in the 12 months of the 2015 financial year, including interests and dividends.
According to a declaration of wealth posted by Bob Collymore, he had a net worth of Sh. 277.3 million in cash, properties and shares at the time.
Bob Collymore also owned a Sh. 54 million residential house in London, UK and had Sh. 18.3 million worth of shares in Safaricom as of 2015. He also owned property in Kenya believed to be worth millions.
Collymore left two wills — one in Kenya and another outside the country. The second will has not been made public, and neither has the jurisdiction of its signing been revealed in court filings. The Kenyan will filed in court by Ms Wambui, stated that all assets Collymore owned locally would be inherited by Wambui.
