Boeing Strengthens Partnership with Digital Divide Data to Upskill Kenyan Youth for Future Jobs

Digital Divide Data (DDD) is proud to announce the continuation of its partnership with The Boeing Company. This year, Boeing’s support goes towards the continuous recruitment and skills training of an even greater number of Kenyan youth, despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The partnership supports the online delivery of DDD’s core Work-Study Program, which provides participants with training in business English, soft skills, and technology (BEST), in addition to tertiary education support and employment. The partnership will also give Kenyan youth opportunities to work in projects that will hone their technical skills relevant to a post-pandemic environment.

Boeing has partnered with DDD for the past 12 years. DDD has supported over 7,700 youth, including 1,200 current staff and associates, and indirectly served about 10,000 individuals in Cambodia, Laos, and Kenya. Boeing’s support helps DDD to continue developing educational and employment opportunities for disadvantaged youth in Africa and Asia to help them gain socioeconomic stability and mobility for themselves and their families.

“Our impact and business model have undoubtedly grown over the years but, at its heart, DDD remains the same. We continue to believe in a shared destiny, and that each of us can help make the world a fairer place. DDD is thankful for Boeing’s continued support in this mission, and we’re excited for our next 12 years or more,”

said DDD CEO and founder, Jeremy Hockenstein.

“It is a core principle of Boeing to invest in the development and education of local talent and to support economic inclusion,”

said Kuljit Ghata-Aura, President of Boeing Middle East, Turkey and Africa (META).

“The previous years of our partnership with DDD have been very successful – for the young people and for Boeing. That’s why we’re eager to expand the program and allow even more young Kenyans to prepare for future jobs.”

DDD has also been able to expand its machine learning (ML) tagging services for sustainable agricultural technology (AgTech) companies in Africa. Through field data collection, program consulting, data preparation, and ML Operations support, DDD’s ML tagging services are helping AgTech clients take their ideas all the way from conception to development and beyond.

DDD has established itself as a key player in data preparation services. As innovation in technology continues to rise and the dependence on ML and AI capabilities grows, Boeing and DDD’s continued partnership has become more vital than ever.

“As DDD and Boeing forge ahead, we look forward to continuing our work to provide better futures for underserved populations, enabling their youth to find a lifetime of opportunity through education and employment in the Tech industry.”
