A report that appeared in the Star newspaper on Wednesday has suggested that operatives from a State agency may have instigated chaos at Bomas of Kenya on Monday during the release of the presidential results.

The report in the Star said that this may have been done to create a crisis and trigger a run off after it became clear that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission was set to declare William Ruto as the president elect.

According to the report, the final tally by the IEBC had already been leaked to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

“Unbeknownst to the nation we are told a lot had been happening behind the scenes. These happenings would have required the results announcement halted and a run-off called,” the report alleged.
