Cabinet Secretaries in Kenya: The amount of wealth eight of President Uhuru Kenyatta‘s cabinet secretaries own can now be revealed. The cabinet secretaries have a combined net worth of about Sh. 2.2 billion, according to a parliamentary report.

The report on the cabinet secretaries wealth lists Water CS Simon Chelugui as the richest of the nine with a net worth of about Sh 796 million. Mr Chelugui, a former director of the Betting Control and Licensing Board, worth comprises of investments in real estate, farming and movable assets.

Environment CS Keriako Tobiko comes in second with a net worth of Sh. 360 million. The immediate former Director of Public Prosecutions has wealth in agriculture, livestock and real estate. During his vetting for the position of DPP in 2011, Tobiko said he was worth Sh. 80 million.

Ukur Yatani, former Marsabit Governor and Labour CS has a net worth of Sh 295 million according to the report. Yatani’s wealth is in transport, livestock, real estate, and movable assets.

Former Chair of Council of Governors Peter Munya has a net worth of Sh 264 million. The former Meru Governor’s investments are in land, agriculture and real estate.

Ms Farida Karoney, Lands, said she has a networth of Sh200 million. A journalist and Royal Media Services Chief Operating Officer, Karoney informed the committee that her investments were in real estate, farming and shares.

Margaret Kobia, the Public Service, informed the committee that she has a net worth of Sh 165 million from expected future benefits from service gratuity and also investments in real estate.

Monica Juma, the Foreign Affairs CS told the committee that she has a net worth of Sh 50 million drawn from salaries and farming income.
