I got Canada visit visa in Nairobi; it’s now revoked and I’ve been banned for 5yrs

A Kenyan lady who applied for her Canada visit visa in Nairobi has come out to share how an act of misrepresentation led her to a five year ban from Canada.

The Kenyan lady shared that she applied for her visa with a travel agent in Nairobi who is not licensed by the Canadian government’s College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC) to conduct immigration representation with the Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

The lady said that she had applied for her visa in July 2023. She got approved and received a visa in October 2023. Before she could travel though, she received a Procedural Fairness Letter (PFL).

In the letter, she was informed that the IRCC had reliable intelligence that she had used an unlicensed representative (popularly known as agents in Nairobi) and had failed to declare the same.

The Procedural Fairness Letter was followed by a ban of five years after she failed to satisfactorily explain why she had misrepresented in her application by using an unauthorized paid representative.

The lady is one of many applicants from Kenya whose visas are getting revoked and banned for using unauthorized agents and fake bank statements.

In Kenya, there are no immigration consultants or lawyers who have been authorized by the IRCC to conduct immigration representation or applications on behalf of applicants.

However, there are two Kenyan Canadian citizens living in Canada who are licensed Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCIC). The two are Loise Githiga of Milele Immigration Services and Mbula Kalorina of Makland Canadian Immigration Services.

Other than the two, there are also many other licensed representatives in Canada whose license credentials and firms can be verified by applicants on the CICC register of licensed RCICs online for free.
