Catherine, the Princess of Wales, has announced that she has cancer. Popularly known as Princess Kate, she made the announcement after weeks of speculation on social media over her wellness and whereabouts.
According to a report that appeared in the BBC, Princess Kate first went to hospital for treatment when she had abdominal surgery in January. At the time, it was not known that there was any cancer in her body.
“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous,” said said the Princess.
However, she said, the tests after the operation found cancer had been present.
“My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment,” the princess was quoted as saying by the BBC.

The BBC went on to report that chemotherapy treatment began in late February. “The palace says it will not be sharing any further private medical information, including the type of cancer,” the BBC reported.
Princess Kate, who is 42-years-old, said that since her cancer diagnosis, she had been thinking about everyone who might be facing the same disease she is facing or who may be affected by cancer.
“For everyone facing this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone,” she said. The princess, however, did not reveal the type of cancer she is suffering from.
The cancer diagnosis has also come a few months after her father-in-law King Charles announced that he was starting treatment for an undiagnosed form if cancer.
