CFC Stanbic CEO Philip Odera’s career profile

Mr. Philip Odera, 57, has been working for the Standard bank since 2000 in a career spanning over 16 years now. He took over the CEO’s seat in April 2015. The former chief executive of Stanbic Uganda replaced 58-year-old Greg Brackenridge who took over the reins in 2010.

Mr. Brackenridge took up the position of Regional Chief Executive East Africa

He started off his higher education at the Babson College’s Franklin W. Olin Graduate School of Business. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from St. Lawrence University, New York, and a Masters degree in Finance from Suffolk University, Boston.

Prior to his appointment as CFC CEO, Mr. Odera was the head of CFC Stanbic in Uganda. He was replaced by Mr Patrick Mweheire.

During his banking career, Mr. Odera has served as Country Head and Managing Director for Stanbic Bank in Kenya, Standard Bank Malawi and most recently Stanbic Bank in Uganda.

Additionally, Mr. Odera is currently a board member at Liberty Life Uganda Ltd, Stanbic Investment Management Services, and Stanbic Bank Uganda Ltd.

He is also a fellow at the Institute of Bankers in Kenya and Uganda.

CFC Stanbic is majority owned by South African Standard Bank with a 60 per cent stake.
