Chase Bank is set to get a new owner by March 2017. according to Central Bank Governor Patrick Njoroge, more local and international suitors have expressed interest.
“I cannot tell you how many more suitors we have received, we are reviewing every one of them, we are hoping to finalise it by the first quarter of 2017,” he said.
Chase Bank was placed under receivership in April 2016. This was triggered by mass withdrawals by customers who feared that it was about to go under.
KCB was appointed as a manager for the bank during its recovery season. Since then, Chase Bank has been on a steady recovery with new customers hitting 13,000 as at last week.
