On Wednesday, a Southern China Airlines flight with 239 passengers arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport from China. The passengers were then requested to self-quarantine for a period of 14 days.

As the arrival of this flight exposed government negligence and apparent don’t care attitude over the virus that is currently wrecking havoc across the world, the Chinese embassy on Thursday released a statement saying that more China flights to Kenya were due for arrival at JKIA over the coming weeks.

“The Airlines will notify the Ministry of Health in advance and all passengers will have to undergo screening and clearance,” read the statement from the embassy. The Embassy said that the China Southern Airlines resumed flights from Guangzhou to Nairobi. The airline’s flights are now reduced to once a week until March 25, 2020. In the statement, China also promised to bring in experts to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to assist in the screening process of passengers arriving from China.
