Banks closed for Christmas? Use Co-op Net to pay, send, receive money

The Christmas and New Year festivities are here with us. As is wont to happen, all banks will be closing during this period. This might come as a great inconvenience to millions of Kenyans who might want to bank and transact, or even pay for goods and services

But there is really no need to worry. This is because the Co-operative Bank of Kenya has a freshly reloaded online banking platform that has been revolutionizing the way Kenyans bank.

The platform, dubbed Co-op Bank Internet Banking or Co-op Net is available to all customers of Co-operative Bank with access to a laptop or desk computer that has internet connection, a smartphone or tablet, or a smart TV that can take internet connection. “We have made the online service available to non Co-operative Bank customers who are looking to make bulk payments,” says the bank in a statement.

Why Co-op Bank was named best bank in Kenya in 2021

Interestingly, the bank has taken extra steps to ensure that the internet banking system is secure enough. “Whenever you log in, you will be required to enter two passwords. One password is the one you registered with, and the second is a one-time password that you receive through an SMS.” If you leave your browser idle for a short while, the system will automatically log you out.

The bank has set out numerous activities that you can accomplish on the platform. For instance, while using Co-op Bank’s internet banking, you can view, download or print any of your account’s statements. This does limit you to any Co-op Bank account you may have, but applies to all Co-op Bank accounts.

In the same time, you can start and stop or amend any standing orders in real time.

You can also transfer cash to another Co-op Bank account in real time. Interestingly, the bank allows you to transfer up to Sh. 500,000 in real time. Additionally, the amounts you can transfer could also be to a foreign account and in foreign currency.
