It has now emerged that Corporal Kangogo Caroline met the two men she is accused of killing in a meeting that also included three other men hours before the first murder.
According to a report that appeared in the Daily Nation on Wednesday, police officers who saw Corporal Kangogo and the five men say they held what looked like intense discussions. Amidst the discussions, Kangogo’s first victim, Constable John Ogweno left alone.
“Ogweno is said to have taken a taxi to the Nakuru town centre that Sunday and stopped at a bank, before proceeding to Merica Hotel on Kenyatta Avenue to meet someone. Later, Constable Ogweno took a motorcycle to the Kasarani police houses, where he made his way to the residence he shared with Cpl Kangogo at Block 9. Three other people arrived at the house, including Cpl Kangogo,” the report in the Nation said.

The report further said that Kangogo’s colleagues believe that her life could be in danger. “We believe that there is more to what happened and it is only fair that we hear what she has to say,” one officer was quoted by the daily.
The DCI has also said that whereas it is possible Kangogo may have pulled the trigger, some senior police officers could have been involved in the deaths, and may be trying to silence her.
Nakuru County Criminal Investigations Officer Anthony Sunguti was quoted saying that Police Constable John Ogweno may have died in the hands of one or several people. He was quoted as having added that the killing may have been an inside job, and that police officers may have been involved. “A police officer of her calibre would know better than leaving clues all over. Why also would she use her ATM card to pay for meals and accommodation if she is indeed trying to conceal her whereabouts,” an officer in the investigations was quoted.
