Cost cutting, Nakumatt, force Unga Group to shut down bakeries

A cost cutting operation and renovations being undertaken by Nakumatt Supermarkets have forced Unga Group to shut down a number of its bakeries.

The manufacturer will closing more than five of its in-store bakeries in favour of supplies from its central commercial kitchen in Nairobi.

“This move is motivated by the need to consolidate certain business operations as the central bakery in Nairobi and Nakumatt’s intention to renovate the outlets,” the company said in a statement.
