KUCCPS launches new in-demand course for C students, how to apply

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) in partnership with Kenya School of Law (KSL) has introduced a new law course for students who scored a C grade in their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

The Diploma in Law program targets Form Four leavers who sat their KCSE from 2000 to 2024 who wish to enter the legal field traditionally reserved for high-grade students.

This is the first time KSL has partnered with KUCCPS to enable students interested in pursuing the Diploma in Law Course under KSL’s Paralegal Training Programme (PTP) to apply.

“This is a testament to the growing confidence that training institutions have in the KUCCPS system, which is transparent and efficient,” said KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome.

The PTP program equips learners with practical legal skills necessary for paralegal duties such as investigation officers, court clerks, legal assistants and case-management officers in various offices in the public sector, private sector and the Civil Society.

The Program also targets various professionals in other disciplines who wish to have basic legal knowledge for personal and professional development.

The course is designed to provide paralegals with the knowledge required for support of the legal profession as mandated by the Kenya School of Law Act, Cap. 16C.

It will equip learners with basic legal skills to give the requisite support to legal practitioners; train the student on proper ethical responsibilities and requirements of a paralegal; train the student in appropriate communication; and equip the student with problem-solving skills.

KSL now becomes the 18th public institution outside the Ministry of Education to integrate with the KUCCPS placement system, joining institutions such as the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication, and the Kenya Forestry College.

To qualify for the Diploma in Law course, applicants must have a minimum KCSE mean grade of C (plain) with at least a C+ in English or Kiswahili.
