Jumia, Posta Kenya partner to boost e-Commerce

Jumia customers are set to benefit from access to more pick-up points countrywide enabling them to pay a lower delivery fee on over 10M products.

This follows a renewed partnership with Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK), a deal that will see customers save on their delivery fee ahead of Black Friday, the biggest sale of the year.

“There are large parts of the country that are underserved today. They lack convenient & low cost access to pick up stations. We continue to see increased demand from areas like Eldoret, Mombasa, Kisumu and Nakuru and surprisingly even as far as Lokichogio in Turkana.

Our expanded pick up station network with Posta will enhance customer confidence and the adoption of eCommerce countrywide,” said Jumia Kenya CEO, Sam Chappatte.

This initiative is part of Jumia’s strategy to reach more customers outside of Nairobi, where the demand for product variety & affordable pricing is very high.

When shopping on Jumia, customers will have the option to pick-up products from a Post Office closest to them during the checkout process, the products will be dispatched to the selected office for collection.

“e-Commerce has witnessed an upward trajectory over the last decade, and we are happy to be part of the change. We would like to assure all customers of quality service on all their Jumia orders and they can also access other services that Posta Kenya offers.” said Postmaster General & CEO of The Postal Corporation Of Kenya, Dan Kagwe.

The announcement comes ahead of Jumia Black Friday which starts on the 8th-29th of November. This year’s theme is the ‘Biggest Save of the Year’, with discounts of up to 90% on 10 million products across all categories. Sponsors for this year’s Black Friday include: Samsung, Nivea, Maybelline, UKA & JAMESON.

The event launches at 11:59pm on Thursday 7th November.
