Nairobi bus sacco Embassava has launched its first electric buses. The newly launched buses will ply the CBD – Nyayo Estate – Jacaranda Estate routes.
Embassava has entered the electric buses market with four buses in conjunction with BasiGo, a firm that has been delivering electric buses in the local market.
“Passengers on these routes will now get to enjoy a modern, comfortable, and clean travel experience with the convenience of cashless payments,” said BasiGo in a statement.
“With each bus we deliver, BasiGo is bringing clean, electric transport to all parts of Nairobi.

BasiGo’s head of business development, Samuel Kamunya recently stated they had received several orders and that it would be delivering the buses in the first quarter of 2023.
“We aim at delivering 100 electric buses by the first quarter of 2023,” Kamunya said.
Since launching in March 2022, BasiGo’s electric buses have driven over 150,000 kilometers and carried over 200,000 passengers as part of fleet operations with 2 Nairobi bus operators.

Automotive, the largest manufacturer of electric vehicles in the world. The K6 electric bus introduced by BasiGo includes a premium passenger coach with synthetic leather seats, free WiFi, USB charging ports and an onboard television screen.
