The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has revealed unique oil and gas industry-oriented courses that students with C- and D grades in their Kenya Certificate of Secondary School (KCSE) exam can pursue.
The courses are being offered at the Morendat Institute of Oil and Gas National Polytechnic and are designed to address various facets of the oil and gas industry, ensuring that students are well prepared for industry challenges and positioned to contribute to the sector’s sustainable development.
The programmes include:
Diploma in Petroleum Management
This programme focuses on the management aspects of the petroleum industry, including exploration, production, and distribution.
Minimum KCSE Mean grade is C-. The course duration is 3 years, and the tuition fee is Sh71,700 per year.
Diploma in Welding and Fabrication
Welding and fabrication are essential skills in the oil and gas sector, particularly for pipeline construction and maintenance.
The Minimum requirement for a Diploma in Welding and fabrication is a Mean grade of C- with C- in English, Mathematics, and Physics.
KUCCPS lists 26 KMTC courses with limited slots for students
Tuition fee for the 3-year course is Sh71,700 per year.
Diploma in Analytical Chemistry
Analytical chemistry is crucial for quality control and testing in the petroleum industry. This course requires a KCSE Mean grade of C- with C- in English and Chemistry.
Diploma in Environmental Science
Environmental science plays a role in assessing and mitigating the environmental impacts of oil and gas operations.
Entry requirements include a KCSE mean grade of C plain or equivalent.
Certificate in Welding and Fabrication
This certificate provides foundational skills in welding, which are applicable in various industries, including oil and gas.
The required KCSE qualification is a Mean grade of D plain.
