The chief land registrar and the director of survey have come out to state that a multi-million land deal involving Equity Bank CEO James Mwangi and former president Daniel Moi is unknown.
The two distanced themselves from the land deal that was apparently conducted through Muthaiga Luxury Homes Ltd. Mwangi claims to have bought the said parcel from Mr Moi through a sale agreement dated February 23,2012 and paid a stamp duty.
However, the two stated in court documents that a genuine transfer of the property was effected on June 17, 2016 to Maestro Connections Health Systems Ltd between Mr Moi and US-based businessman George Kiongera.
“By way of a transfer dated June 17, 2016 registered at the Land Registry at Nairobi, Mr Moi transferred the land to Maestro Connections Health Systems Ltd for Sh500 million,” the document reads. The land is also being claimed by USIU.
