Florence Nyokabi leaves StanChart; joins Safaricom as new chief HR officer

Leading telecommunications firm Safaricom has appointed Florence Nyokabi as the new human resource chief officer.

“Join us as we welcome Florence Nyokabi, our new Chief Human Resources Officer, to Safaricom! Nyokabi’s first day was 1st April 2024,” a statement from Safaricom said.

“She is an accomplished human resource leader with over 25 years of progressive experience leading HR in local and global entities spanning multiple countries across Africa.”

According  to the statement by Safaricom, Nyokabi will oversee talent acquisition and capability, corporate centres, essential services and facilities, and health, safety and wellness.

“She will also be responsible for driving the corporate culture at Safaricom, ensuring its continued success and growth in the telecommunications industry,” Safaricom stated.

Nyokabi has joined Safaricom after a high a successful career stint at the Standard Chartered Bank where she was serving as the managing director for human resources in West Africa.

In her previous five-year West African role, Nyokabi was responsible for the human resource docket in Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Cameroon and Gambia.

Prior to this, Nyokabi, who holds a Master’s degree from the University of Nairobi, was the human resource manager responsible for Uganda, Tanzanian and Kenya at the Standard Chartered Bank.
