NBK Ceo Munir

Immediate former National Bank of Kenya CEO Munir Ahmed was Thursday night arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport as he tried to leave the country.

Munir who was sacked in April this year from the bank over claims of financial malpractices will be arraigned Friday to face fraud and other charges. Police who arrested him said they had been informed he was fleeing the country and would not return but he told them he was flying to Dubai to visit his family.

Munir said police had even returned his passport to him that enabled him to arrange for the trip and wondered why they were arresting him. He spent the night in the cells at Kileleshwa cells as his friends tried to have him released in vain.
