Fred Arocho announces exit from Citizen TV

As with all things in the world, there is a time for everything. Kenya’s veteran TV and radio sports commentator Fred Arocho has finally announced his departure from RMS-owned Citizen TV.

Spanning 4 years at the station where he became synonymous with sports, Arocho took to social media to let his fans know that the time had arrived for him to move forward with his life and career elsewhere.

“It’s been 4 years of great moments at Citizen TV’s Sporty Monday Show…I have truly enjoyed every bit of my stay,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Arocho expressed his gratitude to the management at Citizen TV for giving him the chance to serve and grow at the media house.

He thanked his fellow sports panellists and gave special recognition to Isaac Swila, the Head of Sports at RMS, for the memorable moments they shared at work.

“As I pen off, may I take this opportunity to thank the Management of Royal Media Service for the chance to serve, panelists Steve Shitera, Zitah Jimoi, special regards to Head of RMS Sports Centre Isaac Swila.”

The sports journalist, who boasts a social media following of over 1.5 million, has not yet informed his fans about his plans for the future. It remains uncertain whether he will continue his career in the media industry or pursue opportunities elsewhere.

His fans were surprised by the news of his departure and were curious about his next steps. Responding to one of them in the comments section of his announcement, Arocho wrote, “Directions very soon”.
