My Dream is to become a Successful Freelancer: Where do I begin?

I couldn’t figure out how to get into freelancing 9 years ago. I had heard of all beautiful stories of freelancers who were doing well financially through freelancing. Better still, I had friends who were paying their school fees and living lavish lives through freelancing. “I must learn the skill, and I must be at the top of the game,” I whispered.
It is so fulfilling to sit behind your computer for three to four hours a day and make several dollars. At first, I was so enthused to receive just a few dollars in my account. I felt at peace that I didn’t move out to beg anyone for employment yet I was able to feed myself. I didn’t have to ask for upkeep during my campus life.
As days passed, I realized few dollars were not enough, I was no longer a beginner. Additionally, writing was becoming easier through experience. I could now handle more tasks than before. This is the time I resolved to work for more hours. Up to date, I work both day and night without feeling worked up. I have adapted working for long hours, interacting with hundreds of clients, writing thousands of words, and equipping tens of writers every day.

Where to Begin

Willingness to become a freelancer is the first step. You don’t need to leave your house to work. You only need a small working space in your house. A good computer/laptop, and internet.

The Second Step

Be adaptable, and ready to learn
Did you know having a teachable spirit is a gift? Did you know being able to change a mindset calls for grace?
You must be willing to learn the art of freelancing. In life, I have learnt to *”unlearn”* to learn new things. Sometimes what I was taught was not always perfect for me. Therefore, I have learnt to keep learning new things every day. I always say that learning helps me grow. The end of learning marks the beginning of retrogression. Thus, it is your responsibility to have an open mind to new knowledge. Learn the new writing styles and market demands.
Over the 9 years I have been in the industry, writing has been evolving. The styles of writing have improved to make content creation match the current world trends.

Third Step

Understand the Market
Freelance writing means that you write for money, and you do not have the rights to the work done. Your remuneration takes away the right to your work. Therefore, you must focus on writing top notch content that will attract high paying clients. So, don’t write to finish the task but to win your client with high quality papers.
Furthermore, you must know your clients, and where to get them. For this reason, we invest highly in training our writers concerning this to help them become independent freelancers.

Bottomline

Freelance writing is enjoyable, and pays well if you are passionate about writing, have the skill, and if you understand the market.
