Who is Moses Shumah?

Moses Shumah is a football striker, or attacker, who just joined the Harambee Stars in the Football Kenya Federation. Shumah is a teenage trailblazer making serious moves in African professional football. His playing debut for the club was during the game against Pakistan earlier this week.

Co-Op post

Expectations were high for his performance during this semi-final for the Four Nations Tournament as a new player for the Harambee Stars because of his prior experience. Shumah scored four goals and an assist for the Kakamega Homeboyz during his one season in 2022 with them. They are a football club affiliated with the Football Kenya Federation Premier League in Kakamega, Kenya.

How Did Shumah’s First Goal Happen?

The iconic goal occurred at Cóte d’Or National Complex in Saint Pierre, Mauritius. It was thanks to a loose ball near the penalty section of the field. Shumah took it over to score the only goal for the Harambee Stars during the game against Pakistan.

Pakistan took the lead in controlling the ball in the beginning half of Wednesday’s game. Shumah’s quick thinking and reflexes helped Kenya to take over the game at the 18th minute of the match’s countdown timer. The Pakistan football club could not rebound from Kenya’s goal to score for themselves before the match ended.

What is Next for the Harambee Stars?

The Harambee Stars will face off against the Dodos, the Mauritius club of Kenyan national football, on Sunday, June 18, 2023. This will be the concluding match to decide who wins the 2023 Four Nations Tournament. The Mauritius club will be hosting this year.

Of all the clubs vying for victory in the Four Nations Cup, Les Dodos are 180th, while the Harambee Stars of Kenya are performing much better at 102nd. Pakistan’s football club was ranked at the 195th position in this overall division. Their loss against the Harambee Stars on Wednesdays kicked them out of the running for the Four Nations Tournament.

Harambee Stars Performance History

The Harambee Stars have been performing much better in the past 16 years. Their worst rank during the Four Nations Tournament was when they placed 137th in July 2007. While their current ranking of 102nd is a great feat topping their record-low ranking, they performed even better the year after their record low.

In December 2008, the team made monumental progress and ranked 68th in the Four Nations Tournament that year. In the coming years, maybe they can reach this milestone once again.

In 2018, the Harambee Stars won against Ghana in a match of 1-0 for the Africa Cup of Nations. Ghana had won the same annual competition four times throughout the 20th century.

Ghana’s first win was in 1963 before achieving a second win in 1965. It wasn’t until 13 years later that they secured their third win in 1978. Another four years passed before they got their fourth win in 1982.

Conclusion

What will Moses Shumah do for the Harambee Stars later for the Four Nations Tournament and in the future throughout coming football seasons? Stay tuned to find out!
