The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has introduced a new platform for loan repayment as it seeks to ensure seamless loan repayment from anywhere in the world.
In a statement on Thursday, HELB said Kenyans living abroad can now use the WorldRemit platform to settle their student loans.
“Wherever in the world you may be, we have made it easier for you to make an impact back home,” HELB stated.
According to HELB, students repaying their loans will need to log in on www.worldremit.com and select the Bank Deposit option.
They will then be required to choose between United States Dollars (USD) and Kenyan Shillings before entering the preferred amount.

Borrowers must use the Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) account number 1103266314 as the recipient account.
Additionally, payments should be made using either a debit or credit card, and the borrower must include their national ID number as the payment reference.
Once the payment has been completed, borrowers will be required to forward the confirmation email with their ID number to HELB through [email protected] or [email protected].
HELB clarified that local payments will be made via the eCitizen platform. For individuals, there are three platforms available for repayments, including the HELB mobile App, the HELB portal and the USSD code *642#.
Other payment options for those paying from Kenya include mobile money services and bank payments.
