An employer who has been educating her househelp could not hide her joy as the househelp graduated from Mount Kenya University.

According to the employer Zippy Kendi, her househelp whom the family called ‘Bestie’ to make her feel at home joined her household in Meru some years ago to cater for her daughter.

At the time, Bestie was moving around in search of opportunities. Seeing the opportunity that Bestie had, Zippy took the bold step of enrolling her for a degree course at the Mount Kenya University.

 “We can’t keep calm; celebrating one of my greatest wins. We appreciate those who walked with us,” said Kendi.

“This beautiful soul has been my personal assistant, my daughter calls her bestie. Some years ago, we made this bold step and enrolled her at MKU. It hasn’t been easy but I thank God we made it through. I am a happy parent of a graduand today as she was conferred and received the power to read and do what appertains to the degree,” she added.

Zippy’s bold step became the turning point for Bestie. On August 4, 2023, Bestie graduated.

“Bestie as I am about to release you to the outside world of employment, I can’t hold tears of joy as I remember how far we have come. All I wish you is favour in the next life. Thank you for serving us well. I pray to God that He will give me and Kikie someone else who matches your energy to understand us as you have always done,” said Kendi.
