How to retrieve your tokens when Kenya power SMS delays

Why kenyan are paying more in token charges

Occasionally, Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) pre-paid customers experience the challenge of delayed messages when purchasing tokens.

This can be a bad experience, especially for people whose tokens have run out. But did you know that there are quick and real-time ways to get your token numbers without having to wait for the short message service(SMS) response from Kenya Power?

According to KPLC, in cases of delayed SMS, customers can access their token number through the Kenya Power app or via USSD *977#.

For the USSD code, follow the procedure below.

-Dial *977#

-Select prepaid Sevices (Token) -option one

-Select latest token

-Select Meter or Add Meter

The above procedure will give you access to the last five tokens that were bought under the meter number. From here, you will find your latest token purchase.

Alternatively, tokens can be accessed through the Kenya Power app –MyPower App, which is available on Android and iOS platforms. Follow the steps below

-Download and install the MyPower app if you do not have it

-Select “My Bill/ Token”

-Enter your meter number

Your latest transactions will be displayed. You can also visit the KPLC self-service online portal and check your KPLC token history.
