Huduma ID Numbers: President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday ordered all Kenyans to be registered digitally and given Huduma identification numbers.
President Kenyatta said the numbers will be stored in a database that will also contain information of all foreign nationals residing in the country.
Uhuru said each person will be provided with a unique number known as a Huduma Number which will be generated by the National Integrated Identity Management System.
County commissioners will be required to coordinate the system. Uhuru also directed the newly appointed regional, county commissioners and police commanders to work in unity so as to achieve the government agenda
“For each registration, the National Integrated Identity Management System (NIMS) will generate a unique identification number which will be known as the Huduma number,” he said.
He added that the integrated population registration system will be the authentic single source of truth on personal identity in Kenya.
“To enhance the progress made by the Integrated Population Registration System, my administration will complete a central master population database which will be the authentic ‘single source of truth’ on personal identity in Kenya,” he said.
