Ababu Namwamba is a name that is well-known in Kenya’s political landscape.

The former Budalangi MP is not only admired for his achievements in politics but also for his fashion sense and classy demeanor.

Ababu is one of the few government officials who understand a thing or two about class, and this is evident in his magnificent mansion in the leafy suburbs of Karen, Nairobi.

I consider myself sustained. If you measure wealth in terms of material acquisition…in terms of a home like this…or in the form of a car like the Range Rover parked down here or whether you have a residence.

If you measure wealth by those material factors or yardsticks then yeah, you’d say I have sufficient to live on and to give my family and myself a comfortable living. If that is being wealthy then I thank God, that is a blessing,” Ababu told Viu Sasa in a past interview.

On the current market value, an exact copy of Ababu’s mansion would fetch no less than Sh 250 million.

However, Ababu’s wealth extends beyond his Karen mansion. The current Sports Cabinet Secretary owns an iconic residence in Magoye Beach in Budalangi, which serves as his rural home.

Aside from politics, Ababu is a lawyer by profession, trained at the University of Nairobi, followed by post-graduate studies in international law at the American University, Washington College of Law.

He is a Fulbright scholar and Hubert Humphrey Fellow, with over 20 years of experience in legal practice.

Ababu’s political career spans ten years, during which he held significant positions in the National Assembly.

He has also been the Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports. Besides politics, Ababu has investments across the board.

While being vetted by the National Assembly’s Committee on Appointments, Ababu Namwamba, the former Foreign Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary, disclosed that his wealth comes from a diverse range of investments, which include ownership of residential properties in Nairobi and Busia, land, shares, and pension.

Ababu also mentioned that he possesses two high-end cars and a pair of luxurious boats.

In specific terms, he revealed that his net worth is Sh.425 million, comprising his residence in Nairobi, his country residence in Busia County, a business called Chairs Bay, two land holdings, shareholdings in Safaricom, Cooperative Bank, and Kenya Power, and his pension income.

Ababu also stated that his assets include a Range Rover and Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, along with two water vessels, which have a total value of Sh.425 million.

One of Ababu’s significant investments is Che’s Bay Restaurants in Busia, which ranks first among equals. The unique eatery can accommodate more than 1500 guests.
