Jail my son until the day I’ll die, mother begs court

A mother has pleaded with Eldoret Senior Resident Magistrate Christine Menya to jail her abusive son until the day she will die.

The mother, Selly Rotich broke in tears on May 11 as she narrated how her only son has been subjecting her family to torture and abuse.

According to Selly, the son, Nelson Kiptoo Limo who is 33, has been beating her and her husband. He has forcing his 60-year-old father to flee the home on several occasions to avoid the beatings.

Selly told the court that her son was previously jailed, but he did not reform even after his release from a two year sentence.

“Jail my son. I beg this court not to release this boy, my life is in danger due to frequent threats and attack from the accused. I desire the accused to remain in jail until our deaths for us to enjoy peace. If he is released before our deaths, he is going to kill us,” Selly begged the court.

The court also heard that on April 23, at Lemok village in Kapseret sub-county of Uasin Gishu County, Selly’s son had threatened to kill her and any witnesses to the killing.

“I have heard your concerns as a parent and this court cannot make a decision to deny the accused bond before receiving a probation report,” the magistrate ruled.

  1. Our legal system, like most Anglo-countries is flowed. It does not offer good reasons for life style change. Governments claim they are broke, while a small group of government connected guys steal money in Billions.
And they claim investigations are on-going.
You see, you can’t, mathematically have 54 million fools!
