Jalang’o now joins KISS FM breakfast show

Jalango Kiss FM: Popular comedian Jalang’o has joined Radio Africa’s KISS FM. The move comes barely days after controversial morning co-host Andrew Kibe left the station. It also comes barely two weeks after Jalang’o was fired from Radio Milele which is operated by MediaMax.

Jalang’o made the confirmation in a cryptic message on his Facebook page.

Kibe had earlier said that he quit due to constant censorship. “I gave my notice three months ago because I was being censored on the content I could put out on national radio,” he said. This was in spite of speculation that he was due to be replaced by Jalang’o.

It now remains to be seen if Jalang’o will team up with Kamene Goro and what his impact will be. Data from GeoPoll shows that the breakfast show by Kamene and Kibe has been gaining audiences and recorded some 716,000 listeners in May 2020. The duo’s breakfast show was ranked sixth overall in the country, and the second most popular English show after sister station Classic FM’s Maina and King’ang’i.

Jalang’o is considered one of the highest paid morning show comedians. A few days after losing his job at Milele FM, Jalang’o announced that he had attracted up to six job offers and had settled on one at a popular media station.

Earlier on Jalang’o had hinted about joining Radio Africa where his media career began. “I want to say, I might end up on Waiyaki way, on Waiyaki Way there are so many radios. But I had an amazing meeting with my friend, my boss, the first person who ever gave me the first-ever radio contract, Mr Patrick Quarcoo. We had a long discussion, so takeaway NRG radio but I think I might end up back at where it all began, Radio Africa. Which radio I still don’t know, could it be Kiss 100, Classic FM or Jambo,” he said. Jalango Kiss FM.
