He says that he decided to venture into the business after tarmacking for years and failing to secure a job with his accounting diploma.

“I tarmacked looking for a job, but I could not get one. I decided to move back home in Kisii where I started farming cabbages and from this, I saved around Sh. 60,000,” he stated.

With this accrued amount, Mr. Nyaberi opted to buy a secondhand motorcycle from a friend. This launched his journey as a boda rider.

Jones Nyaberi recalled how one time he carried a customer who worked at a SACCO. The client encouraged Nyaberi to start saving so that he could lift himself.

With grit and willpower, Nyaberi started saving to build his own house.

“I saved up some money and then started building my house’s foundation. However, my parents lived in a dilapidated mud-walled house and so I stopped building mine first and went to construct my parents a better house,” he said.

Nyaberi completed his parent’s house first and then relaunched the construction of his house. 3 years later, his house was almost ready for occupation.
