Kahii Ga Cucu, a boda boda rider from Kiambu County, has been engaging in philanthropic work by feeding needy street children.
Having grown up in poverty, Kahii has mandated himself to feed street children twice a week; every Monday and Friday. He notes that the act gives him fulfilment in life.
“I have known the pain of going hungry, and so I use my time on Fridays and Mondays to feed street children. I have also managed to have others go home and had other women living on the streets get rental houses,” he remarked.
Kahii Ga Cucu builds a house
As a sign of blessings bestowed upon his life, the humble young man has finally built himself a beautiful house.
Kahii estimates that it has cost over Sh. 1 million to finally complete his construction. But his journey to get where he is today has not been a bed of roses. Even roses have thorns.
Kahii Ga Cucu hails from Muguga area in Kiambu. Raised in poverty, Kahii quickly understood what it means to be ‘hardworking’ in the world.
His parents passed on while he was still young, leaving him and his brother under the care of his grandmother.
Unfortunately, Kahii’s grandmother also succumbed while he was in his college years. Life became tough and Kahii had to brace himself for the financial challenges dawning upon him.
He dropped out of college. This was when he started his first hustle as a boda boda rider to take care of himself and his brother.
“I was at first employed as a boda boda rider before I managed to buy a second-hand motorcycle,” Kahii noted in an exclusive interview.
Kahii’s resilience saw him en route to building his own home. Brought up in challenging conditions, the man understood the value of security.
Among his childhood dreams was to have a place to call ‘home’.
He started first by purchasing several iron sheets. After the construction, he moved into the house and furnished it with quality furniture and appliances.
“It may be a Mabati house, but I actually spent over a million because it has a specific design, as you can see. I also furnished it with quality furniture and appliances to give me the comfort I desired as a child,” Kahii stated.
In addition to being in the boda boda trade as a rider, Kahii is also an employer. He has bought three more motorcycles that he has employed people to operate.
