Joy as ghetto rapper Kanambo Dede resumes school years after dropping out

Co-Op post

Education is the key to betterment. This statement rings so true at an age where jobs and opportunities require a minimum of a high school certificate.

This is the acknowledgement that fast-rising ghetto rapper Kanambo Dede has made. Years after she dropped out of school, Kanambo had been wishing she could return.

This wish has now come true, thanks to rapper King Kaka. On Tuesday, Kanambo shaved her dreads, dressed in a school uniform and returned to the classroom.

Her decision has been praised by many Kenyans who sent words of encouragement.

Kanambo Dede gained popularity when she was recorded doing a freestyle rap song. The recorded clip then went viral on social media. This saw rapper King Kaka launch a search for her. He finally managed to reach her and assisted her to record her first song.

In the song, Kanambo narrated the hard life she had been through, being raised by a single mother, dropping out of school and getting a baby at a young age.

She has since recorded her second single. But her primary wish was to return to school. “She wished it, it happened today. Kanambo Dede is back at school,” King Kaka said.

“Supporting somebody academically is worth gold,” comedian MC Tricky commented.

“May the living God bless you abundantly. As he remembers his chosen ones, may he remember you too,” Kaka Okumu commented.

“You’ve been more than a mentor to this girl. You’ve become family that she will cherish for the rest of her life. It’s good to be important, but it is more important to be good,” Dennis Maina commented.
