Karen residents: Ruto has brought insecurity, muggings, noise to our estate

Residents of the upmarket residential area Karen estate have written a protest letter to Deputy President William Ruto. In their letter, the residents have accused the deputy president of being the cause of noise, insecurity, and muggings in the residential area.

They claim that multiple many elements who masquerade as visitors to his home often attack people heading to, or leaving their homes in the posh neighbourhood.

“We have received complaints of insecurity, noise and traffic gridlock attributed to entourages entering your official residence. Residents have complained of rising cases of mugging along the route conducted by aliens masquerading as visitors to your residence,” they said in a letter.

The letter which was also signed by the residents’ chairperson James Hirst further said that the DP’s resident had become the cause of endless traffic as elements from outside the estate visit his resident and park by the roadside awaiting police approval to get into his resident.

“The association is highly concerned by the ever-presence of suspicious persons roaming around the area against its rules on loitering. We wish to notify you of rampant traffic gridlock as a result of visitors parking on the roadsides and way leaves awaiting clearance to your residence,” the residents further said in their letter.

“This has caused unbearable inconvenience to residents commuting along the Karen road and adjoining lanes. We, therefore, request your office to speedily and conclusively look into the above matters, safeguard and restore peace and tranquility in our neighbourhood.”

The protest letter by the residents was addressed to the deputy president and copied to the Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai. Over the past few months, the resident of the deputy president in Karen has been hosting multiple delegations for political purposes, much to the chagrin on the area residents and political competitors.
