Kasarani, Njiru Hospitals Get Support from Sportpesa Foundation

SportPesa through its foundation has handed over equipment to support maternal health in Kasarani Health Centre and Njiru, to improve the quality and accessibility of services in Nairobi County.

In Kasarani Ward, the Company extended support to Kasarani Health Centre’s Maternal and Child Health care section by donating a refrigerator, oxygen cylinder, salter scale, BP machines, height board, a cooker, delivery pack, a bed for emergency deliveries, surgical gloves and masks.

At Njiru, the SportPesa Foundation gave a haemogram machine, an electric delivery bed, a patient monitor, a commercial washing machine and BP monitors to the hospital’s maternity wing.

“We were elevated to a Level 4 facility in December. This means we need to be offering all-around basic medical services without referring patients elsewhere, to do this we need a well-equipped hospital so this is a very great gesture from SportPesa,” said the head nurse at Njiru Level 4 maternity wing, Ms Rosemary Mideva.

SportPesa CEO Captain Ronald Karauri said the donations are part of the company’s contribution to enhancing health infrastructure for improved services in maternal health.

SportPesa Foundation launched its Maternal Health Care support programme in March 2021 to support various health facilities in the country with maternal health care equipment with the aim of promoting safer deliveries.

Since the launch of the programme SportPesa Foundation has donated equipment to public and mission hospitals in seven counties –  Homabay, Narok, Kiambu, Meru, Nairobi, Bomet and Tharaka Nithi. SportPesa Foundation supports communities in areas of sports and education, maternal care and ending period poverty by promoting menstrual hygiene projects.
