Kathy Kiuna did not ban poor people from JCC, says church

Allan and Kathy Kiuna’s JCC church has come out to deny rumours going round on social media that Pastor Kathy Kiuna banned poor people from attending church services at JCC. According to JCC, Kathy Kiuna has not been in the country for the better part of January.

The ‘clarification’ followed sustained allegations and accusations on social media that Kathy Kiuna had remarked the following in her sermon: “This is not a place for poor people. If you cannot tithe, find another church. We do not entertain poverty.”

The new controversy surrounding Kathy came as the ashes of another controversy and social backlash towards her husband Allan Kiuna cool off. In November last year, Allan Kiuna was involved in twitter war after posting a controversial tweet that speedily went viral. He had posted: “Had a wonderful golfing day in Pretoria. As haters hate, I am enjoying the goodness of God. Love y’all n c u Sunday!”

Currently, Kathy Kiuna has been taking from Kenyans on social media who have included Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko. Sonko went ahead to air his views on his Facebook page saying, “Watu wangu naskia mumefukuzwa Church zenu due to poverty don’t worry tuko pamoja. Many Christian believers who invest years in their lives in what they do will one day stand before the Lord and realize they were building the house, not the Lord but sinking sand. Before we act, we must ask why? Why are we doing what we are doing? Has God called us to this task? Or is the real motive purely financial or otherwise or control.”
