Kazi Mtaani set to resume next week. See the payment details

Kazi Mtaani to resume next week

Principal Secretary for the State Department of Housing and Urban Development, Charles Hinga has announced that the Kazi Mtaani is set to resume next week following a delay in payments by the government.

He said that the payments for the Kazi Mtaani workers would be processed before the end of the week claiming the delays were a result of changes made in the financial year beginning July 1st.

“We apologize for any delays; your payment is now being processed for all Cohort 1 Kazi Mtaani adolescents. Unfortunately, we’ve run into administrative problems with the end of the financial year, but we’re doing everything we can to pay you. Although there may be a slight delay, we will nonetheless honor your payment. ” Said In a tweet.

“Ordinarily, the government pays 30 days after services are rendered. We had a special dispensation for Kazi Mtaani because this was addressing serious vulnerabilities. However, if you recall even last year we had a similar challenge during the same time as the financial year ended.”

PS Hinga stated that the first Cohort will resume work on Tuesday next week together with those who worked 5 days a week and those who were left out because they didn’t get an SMS.

He noted that the payment for the Kazi Mtaani program would not change despite there being several allegations of pay increments. The program workers get paid a wage of Shs. 455 daily. Rumors had it that pay would increase to Shs. 1,000.

Charles Hinga stated that this was just a tactic started by politicians with propaganda to gain a lot of votes.

“Parliamentary transactions are captured on Hansard, ask them for proof of this increase. What they did was to cut what the president promised the youths during last year’s Mashujaa Day from Kshs. 10 Billion to Shs. 2.5 Billion.”

“Most of you don’t think politics matter but if someone is willing to play with your livelihood then on August 9 you have the power to hire or fire them,”

He stated.

His remarks follow after politicians began claiming that the government was using Kazi Mtaani payment money to campaign for Raila Odinga.

“It’s really insulting to the young people of our nation that you sabotage the program of housing and value addition that would have given decent jobs and then because there is an election you have rolled out Kazi Mtaani.”
