A parent has shocked many people after going on a rant on social media over what he termed as his daughter’s poor KCPE performance.
“I am the kind of parent who does not celebrate underperformance. She got 368, and I am not happy. You can lie to her that she did well, not me,” the parent, Nduati wa Wangui, claimed.
Nduati wa Wangui claimed that his daughter had scored 368 marks, which according to him was a poor show. Nduati claimed that poorer kids from rural areas had scored over 390 marks, which his daughter could not manage.

“A girl in my village who walks to school every day carrying a Jerry can of water to wash her classroom scored 395 marks. That is performance.”
In the KCPE results that were released on Wednesday, the top pupil scored 431 marks out of the possible 500.
Slightly over 9,000 pupils scored above 400 marks. Out of these, 39 were persons with disabilities, an improvement from the two pupils who managed 400 and above marks in the 2021 KCPE.
These results were announced by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu who failed to name the top students in what was claimed as an attempt by the ministry to end competition among schools.
