KCSE Results 2019: 627 get A Plain, 125,746 get above C+

KCSE Results 2019: The 2019 results for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education have been released. The results came within 21 days following the completion of this year’s examination. The exam was conducted in 10,287 centres across the country.

The number of candidates who attained A plain 627 up from 315 from last year.

Kinyua Milkah Wanjiru was singled out as the most improved candidate in Kenya. She had scored 179 marks in KCPE and has now scored a B-.

The Cabinet Secretary for Education Professor George Magoha had promised that the KCSE results 2019 would be out before Christmas.

A total of 667,222 candidates sat  for the exams began on November 4 and ended on 27. The marking was concluded by December 13.

The general performance for this year’s examinations was better than that of the KCSE 2018. 17 counties had more female candidates than male.

Several cases of cheating were reported in parts of the country during the exam period.

Marking was disrupted in two centres over low pay and poor working conditions.Markers at Machakos Girls High School and Starehe Girls Centre threatened to quit saying the money they were getting for each script was not enough.
